Aug 16, 2012 · It started the day before I got the oil change. Then afterwards, the pressure started out a little high, dropped to normal (50) for about a half hour, then jumped up around 75. The day before I got the oil changed, it shot up around 100 at high idle, for a few seconds. Then it was at 75-85 most of the day, then it dropped to normal for a short time before returning to 85.
Stop Engine. Oil gauge fluctuates at idle from 40 down to 0. At acceleration pressure returns to 40-50. Oil registers full..... info center says 74%.
they are saying it might be the sludge in the engine blocking oil flow through the system that is causing the low oil pressure. they did a manual guage oil pressure test and interestingly the oil pressure is ok at idle but would drop when it goes above 4k rpm.
- Checked oil galley plugs in heads (all there, all tight) Motor went back in and I got it started this weekend, STILL have the same problem. I'm baffled. Cold start pressure is 20 psi, went down to 8 psi at idle when it got warm. Pressure increases with RPM and seems normal after 1500-2000 rpm. Running 6.5 quarts of 5-30.
After I shut down for a few hours, I started the truck and ran 6 hours home while it had normal pressure 20 idle/40 @1300rpm Put 1 gallon diesel in the oil 30 miles before oil change shop. Oil changed. Started truck oil pressure stays at 40psi idle thru 1800rpm Shut down for a few days, changed Oil Pressure Sensor and restarted engine. Still ...
May 17, 2018 · Normal oil pressure in an engine runs 15 to 30 pounds at 2000 RPM, to a max of 30 to 60. At idle, the oil pressure maybe as low as 7 PSI. So for ten feet you loose 4 PSI of pressure - which results in a pressure reading of 3 PSI.
If I wanted to raise my oil pressure, I'd be using Lucas Oil Stabilizer to do so. But, the owners manual does permit using 10W-30 so you're not hurting anything by using that viscosity. The only thing you're changing between the two oils is the viscosity when the oil is cold. 5W-30 and 10W-30 should be the same viscosity at operating temperature.
General rule of thumb for minimum allowable oil pressure is 10 PSI for each 1000 RPM engine speed up to the relief pressure. This implies it may be okay to run as little as 30-40 PSI at road speed, and 10 PSI at idle. Indeed the engine is not likely to suffer immediate catastrophic failure in that condition, but it is a sign of worn bearings. Nov 17, 2016 · The minimum oil pressure at idle is only 5 psi (34.5 kpa). The minimum oil pressure at 2000 engine rpms is 35 psi (241 kpa). Both of these pressures are using a mechanical oil pressure gauge that can measure the low 5 psi readings. Your oil pressure gauge should not be more than a 100 psi gauge or the readings may not be accurate.
Today idle is only about 10 PSI ( The engine is hot). Yes, I know I need to put a direct reading gauge on it, but don't have one anymore. I will have one hook up after I get the oil changed. Since I bought the truck used a few months ago, I can't swear when it was last changed, but oil looks "clean".
Jan 16, 2009 · The oil pressure should be anywhere from 10-13 psi at a stable idle. Its not a problem to have highER oil pressure at startup. Your pretty lucky my first DSM would all the sudden just lose oil pressure or sometimes on start up it wouldnt have any to begin with so Id have to shut it off real fast and wait then start it up.
• Prolonged periods of low idle RPMs and high idle times at low ambient temperatures, along with low coolant temperature levels, can cause damage to the engine and the aftertreatment system (See the PACCAR MX-13 Engine Operator’s Manual). o The recommended range for Engine Idle Shutdown Timer (EIST) to be active is between 25°F and 75°F.
Oct 26, 2010 · your oil pressure will vary between 15-30 psi at idle and 70-100 psi at WOT. although it should never really go above 100 psi. anything over that you may blow out seals. sam
Apr 08, 2014 · Normal pressure. Mines 20 at idle then 60 at drive Edit. That's how it was before the new ls6 pump. Now its 40 warm idle and 80 when I drive.
Rule of thumb is 10 PSI for every 1000 RPM. Also keep in mind newer Jeeps use dummy gauges on both oil and coolant and will usually stay around the 50 mark no matter what, even though at idle it will be much lower. Older jeeps like my 97 show truer values and the oil pressure gauge fluctuates with RPM.

Ford Oil Pressure Specs (1966 Ford Factory Shop Manual) 427 40 to 55 psi @ 2000 rpm (I assume a side-oiler) 428 Police Interceptor 45 to 70 psi @ 2000 rpm. All other engines (I assume 390, regular 428, center oiler 427, etc.) 35 to 55 psi @ 2000 rpm. I think when cold it was 45 at idle, 65-70 at 2000 RPM and 70-80 max.

May 29, 2019 · Or, the oil itself could just be so dirty that it no longer cycles through the engine properly, which causes low oil pressure. If you have no idea when the last time your Town and Country’s oil was changed, or if you happen to have done a lot of towing, or if your oil change is overdue, changing the oil itself may vary well solve the problem.

Low oil pressure can also cause problems in overhead cam engiens with Variable Valve Timing. Whether the excessive clearances are due to normal Weak or Leaky Oil Pressure Relief Valve: The pressure relief valve, which may be located on the pump body or elsewhere on the engine, can be...
Jul 30, 2018 · Folks have found that even in engines with fairly low hours after rebuild, crud helps seal up the notoriously loose Willys oil seals - especially the rear main seal. As for oil pressure, it seems a bit higher than most, but if the seals hold it - I would not complain or worry. 30 PSI at summer idle is really good.
Apr 22, 2006 · However, the oil pressure runs low. At 1500 rpm cruising in high gear, about 25-30 PSI at normal operating temperatures. At idle it drops below 20psi. On climbing some long hills with a load on recently, the "low oil warning" has come on near the top of the hill.
Jul 30, 2017 · When engine is warm, my M400 oil pressure gage reads 15-ish at idle (gage isn't very precise at that level as you pointed out), but picks up into the 40-60 psi range at higher rpm. When oil is cold, it's 40 psi at idle.
80 psi is within normal limits, your oil filter won't blow until you hit 135-140 psi. My V-6 shows 93 psi at cold idle, 30 when fully warmed up. Driving in town at 1,500-3000 rpm it stays around 35-40 psi. WOT it shoots up to 60 psi instantly, then climbs to 95 psi as the rpms increase to red line.
The normal oil pressure for your car during idol is 2 kpa or above. I have heard accounts of some people's w124 getting down to 1.5 kpa, but never one or less. Just my 2 cents- I yield to other members. Secondly, at any RPM's over idol the normal pressure is 3 kpa.
Mar 23, 2009 · The pressure bypass is the systems first pressure valve helping against blowing the oil filter off its mount. This bypass is critical and should never be deleted. It is located on the side of the oil filter adaptor facing the oil pan on all 67-91 motors (except Pacer V-8 ) and has a large 7/8 bolt and aluminum or copper washer for retaining the ...
The oil pump is engine driven and the oil pressure rises and falls in step with engine rpms. As the rpms raise, so does the oil pressure. If the oil pressure is 75 psi at 1600 rpms as you claim it is, it will be higher at 2K, and much higher yet at 3K, 4K rpms etc..
Yes. Here are typical oil pressures for most Subarus: Cold Start - 90-100 PSI Driving - 80-100 PSI Warm Idle - 20-30 PSI Warm idle will take at least 10 minutes of steady driving, and in this weather, more like 20. Sounds to me like your numbers are fine. PS: Aftermarket oil pressure gauges are great. If you're worried, I'd suggest getting one.

I was just wonder what types of pressure other people are having on there boats. I have a Gen 6 454 that today had about: 40lbs at 2500rpm (cold) 25lbs at 900rpm idle (cold) The other day my pressure got really low in the poker run obviously because it was running alot hotter then usual.
What is normal oil pressure at idle on the V6? I just found the menu to display the pressure, and it is 12-13 at idle, will go up to 70 or so. It seems to vary more than any other I have seen before.
I went with the 10295 high pressure pump. Its basically a stock replacement with a stiffer bypass spring. Bumps the idle pressure up ~5 psi and hits 60+ as you hit the higher RPMS. The quality was better than stock. I didn't think I needed the higher volume needed for the DOD engines. I have a little more than 10k on the new pump with no problems.
I just picked up a 2006 FLHX with the 88CI engine. at idle the bike has very low oil pressure showing on the gauge. I would say it is around 6-8 PSI, and at 60mph and 2500RPM the pressure is only around 35. What is the normal range on this engine and how normal is the low pressure at Idle...
If you're running 0w30 I would expect the cold pressure to be less than someone running 5w30 or 10w30. For me, on cold startup at idle the pressure is at about 1/2, at 3k rpm it gets closer to the 3/4 mark. Once it's warmed up it'll sit just above the 1/4 at idle, and just above the 1/2 at 2200 rpm (highway speed).
The 5.3L is notorious for low idle oil pressure. The gauges are not always accurate. For example, I just replaced the transmitter with a brand new one and managed to even find a “new old stock” gauge. At start up of cold engine it shows about 75 and settles down to about 25 when warmed up.
2017-2018 GM 6.6L, L5P Duramax diesel engines. Reports have been filed that the oil pressure gauge “pegs” or goes as high as it can when this engine first starts when cold. While this condition seems abnormal, GM states that this may be normal depending on conditions and engine oil temperatures.
Newer oil = higher pressure at standstill. Usually 3.5 bar. Once the oil is warmed through and a bit older, say 3 to 4 months or so, idle pressure will be about 2.5 bar which is fine. The pressure should rise to 4.5 to 5 under acceleration and stay above 4 even at low speeds.
Nov 20, 2010 · Oil pressure at start up is 30-40 psi and stays around 40 most of the time. And at extended idle after warm up I have no problems, just get the alarms when backing off the throttle to idle. I get around the problem by bumping up to a fast idle, say 850rpm vs. 650rpm.
1. low oil pressure, meaning you need to top up your oil. 2. faulty oil pressure switch, meaning you might need either a new oil pressure switch if it is defective. Or, you have sludge in your engine and that is clogging up the oil pressure switch causing a false reading. Either was a new oil filter and some fresh oil may cure the problem.
Lower oil pressure at idle is normal. Get a manual oil pressure tester and see what you pressures are. Everything else is just a guess until this is You could replace the oil pressure sending unit, but that's not a sure fix. A mechanical gauge installed inline with the factory sending unit will ensure you...

On the way home today notice "check gage" light on while at a stop light and oil pressure gauge is on 0! As soon as I give it throttle to move or in neutral the gauge jumps up to normal and stays there as long as Im not at idle. As soon as Im at idle there is no oil pressure! Please share your thoughts.
Recently changed the oil in my H2. Now I'm noticing my oil pressure going from around 20 to around 60 when stopped and when accelerating. Usually stays right around 40 while cruising. I don't recall it moving this much before. Is this normal or did something not get done right?
Happened twice yesterday offshore both times at idle. As soon as I increased the rpms it was fine. Engine runs perfect. When I got back to dock I checked oil level ( 45 hours on current oil) It was fine.Operating temp was fine at 129 degrees. I cant seem to find actual oil pressure on the square gauge.

The pressure is good, about 40-50 when cold but as it warms up it drops down to around 5 or so at idle. I've had the oil pump rebuilt with a NAPA kit and it seemed to help a little, but not very much. Switching to 20-50 oil might be part of this. The engine was supposedly a fresh 5000 mile ago rebuild according to the previous owner. Mar 24, 2011 · Normal oil pressure at idle? Just rebuilt my oil pump and installed a new mid-plate with a new timing cover from BJ's Offroad. Installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge and when I first start the rig, the pressure reads about 50 at idle but after it warms up I'm looking at about 6 to 8 at idle.
